The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice in Hitchin for an Audit Senior / Audit Semi Senior to join their growing audit team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with recent practice experience who is confident managing audit assignments from planning through to completion. The successful candidate will work with a varied portfolio of clients across different sectors while developing their technical and professional skills within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver audit assignments from planning through to completion.
Prepare audit files and working papers to a high professional standard.
Identify audit risks and communicate findings to managers.
Liaise directly with clients throughout the audit process.
Review financial statements and supporting documentation.
Assist with statutory accounts preparation where required.
Ensure all work is completed within agreed deadlines.
Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate.
Maintain compliance with UK accounting and auditing standards.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Part-qualified ACA or ACCA (or equivalent).
Recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
Experience handling audit assignments from planning through to completion with minimal supervision.
Good understanding of UK auditing standards.
Strong communication and client relationship skills.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Desirable
Experience gained within a medium-sized accountancy practice.
Accounts preparation experience.
Experience supervising junior staff.
Knowledge of audit software such as CCH, CaseWare, IRIS, or similar.

Salary & Benefits
