The Glazing Estimator job itself, where you will take responsibility for producing accurate and competitive estimates for glazing, window, door, curtain walling and façade projects.
Working closely with pre-construction colleagues, clients, contractors, suppliers and the wider project team, you will help secure profitable new business and support successful project delivery. More specifically:
Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and client requirements
Measuring and quantifying glazing, curtain walling, windows, doors and associated façade systems
Preparing accurate material, labour and subcontractor cost estimates
Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
Producing detailed tender submissions, quotations and pricing schedules
Identifying commercial risks, value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
Liaising with architects, contractors, clients and suppliers on technical and commercial enquiries
Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings where required
Maintaining accurate pricing, supplier and historical project cost information
Supporting successful tender handovers into the project delivery team
Monitoring material costs, market trends and relevant industry developments
Ensuring estimates meet company quality standards, procedures and client specifications
You will have
To be successful as Glazing Estimator / Façade Estimator, you will have relevant estimating experience gained within glazing, façades, curtain walling, windows, doors or a closely related construction environment. You will ideally demonstrate:
Proven experience as a Glazing Estimator, Façade Estimator, Curtain Walling Estimator or similar
Experience estimating aluminium windows, doors, curtain walling and/or structural glazing
Strong ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings
Experience with Logikal, Techdesign and/or Schucal estimating/design software
Good Microsoft Excel and estimating software skills
Strong numerical, analytical and commercial ability
Understanding of material, labour and subcontractor pricing
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
Good communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively to deadlines
An HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant industry experience is equally important.
