The Role
You’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of transport operations, working closely with the Depot Manager. Responsibilities will include:
Coordinating and planning multi-drop deliveries to customers
Maximising route efficiency through strong geographical knowledge
Managing vehicle maintenance schedules and bookings
Monitoring driver compliance, including tachograph downloads and records
Ensuring adherence to driving hours regulations and Working Time Directive
Supporting the wider team with customer interaction, including answering calls and assisting at the trade counter
This is a hands-on position where no two days are the same, offering exposure to both operational and customer-facing aspects of the business.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
Previous experience within a busy transport or logistics environment
CPC qualification and strong tachograph knowledge (essential)
A solid understanding of driver compliance, WTD, and transport regulations
Experience within a builders merchants, construction supply, or similar environment (highly desirable)
Confidence dealing with customers both over the phone and face-to-face
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting
A positive, “can-do” attitude with a willingness to support across the team
