We are currently seeking an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton, with an immediate start available.
This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background working with young people who present with SEMH needs, and who is confident in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a structured and nurturing environment.
The Role:
Provide in-class support to students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs
Work on a one-to-one and small group basis to support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation
Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and behaviour strategies
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote progress and wellbeing
Support the implementation of individual behaviour and support plans
De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
Requirements:
Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
A proactive, patient, and resilient attitude
Team Teach training (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable
