Capital Projects Leader
Cambridge, UK
We are supporting a global pharmaceutical manufacturer with the appointment of Capital Projects Leader for one of its most strategically important UK sites.
The business is entering a significant period of investment, with a multi year capital programme focused on expanding capability, modernising infrastructure and strengthening long term operational resilience. This is a pivotal leadership role at the centre of that transformation.
The opportunity
As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will own the capital agenda and engineering strategy. The site has a strong operational foundation and clear global backing, and now requires an experienced leader to translate investment into tangible, compliant delivery.
You will oversee a broad portfolio of projects ranging from facility upgrades and production expansion through to utilities, compliance enhancement and future technology integration.
Alongside project execution, you will lead the wider engineering function, ensuring reliability, asset performance and technical standards continue to evolve with the site’s growth ambitions.
This is not simply a project delivery role. It is about setting direction, building capability and ensuring that capital investment genuinely strengthens the site for the long term.
Key responsibilities
• Define and deliver the site capital investment road map
• Lead complex GMP projects from concept through qualification and handover
• Strengthen engineering capability across maintenance, reliability and technical services
• Partner with global stakeholders to align local delivery with network strategy
• Ensure inspection readiness and regulatory compliance across all engineering activities
• Develop and inspire a high performing, accountable engineering team
We are looking for an experienced leader who understands the realities of operating within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
You will likely bring:
• A strong track record of leading capital programmes within GMP manufacturing
• Experience delivering expansion and brownfield projects on live sites
• Commercial and financial confidence managing significant capital budgets
• The ability to influence senior stakeholders locally and globally
• A leadership style that combines clarity, accountability and pragmatism
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a well established site at a point of genuine investment and momentum.
