Freelance Technical Interior Designer/ AutoCAD Technician – Retail Design
Location: London (On-site preferred, hybrid considered)
Day Rate: Up to £280 per day
A London-based design studio is seeking an experienced Freelance Technical Interior Designer to support the delivery of high-quality retail projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong designer with a proven background in retail environments and experience producing detailed drawing packages.
The successful candidate will have solid technical expertise and be confident taking projects through RIBA Stage 3, delivering accurate, coordinated drawing packages that support design intent and project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed technical drawing packages for RIBA Stage 3.
- Develop and coordinate technical design information for retail projects.
- Work closely with the wider design team to ensure designs are fully resolved and buildable.
- Ensure drawing packages meet project standards, technical requirements, and programme deadlines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Technical Interior Designer or AutoCAD Technician within the retail sector (at least 5 years).
- Strong experience delivering Stage 3 technical drawing packages.
- Excellent technical detailing and drawing production skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work efficiently within a collaborative studio environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in travel retail projects, including airports or duty-free environments.
- Previous experience working on international retail programmes.
Working Arrangement:
The studio operates from its London office, and candidates who are able to work primarily on-site are preferred to encourage collaboration with the design team. However, a hybrid working arrangement will be considered for the right candidate.
Contract Details:
- Up to £280 per day, depending on experience
