Our client is currently recruiting a Support Worker to work at a 56-bed service in the Crystal Palace area. The service provides support to individuals with complex and multiple needs including mental ill-health and substance misuse.
• 45 hours per week
• Monday - Sunday (rota basis)
• Shifts: 08:00 - 18:00, requirement to work every other weekend
• Temporary: approx. 2-3 months
• £16.59 per hour (£14.80 per hour, with £1.79 holiday pay)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage a caseload of key clients
• Create person-centred support plans to help residents achieve goals and live independently
• Encourage participation in social, educational, and leisure activities
• Support residents to maintain clean and safe living spaces
• Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing regularly
• Track medication compliance and report concerns or relapse indicators
• Liaise with external agencies regarding residents’ wellbeing
• Carry out wellbeing and safety checks across the building
• Ensure only authorised individuals enter the building
• Respond to emergencies in line with policies and procedures
• Maintain knowledge of relevant health and welfare legislation
• Take part in the service duty rota
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Experience supporting people with mental health needs
• Understanding of alcohol and substance misuse issues
• Experience in supported housing
• Experience creating SMART action plans
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour using appropriate techniques
• Experience completing assessments and risk assessments
• Knowledge of Health and Social Care legislation
• Understanding of safeguarding and protecting vulnerable adults
• Knowledge of welfare benefits
• Ability to build on residents’ strengths while addressing behaviours
• Good IT skills for reports and correspondence
• Desirable: Ability to cook when needed
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
