The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
What you will be doing
This is a rare opportunity to shape advanced submarine systems from early concept through to long term in-service evolution. You will take ownership of system level design decisions and ensure technical solutions remain robust, compliant and aligned to evolving operational needs.
You will lead system architecture definition, support bid and proposal activity, stakeholder management, and act as a key technical authority across the full lifecycle of complex engineered solutions. The role also involves collaboration across engineering, project and supply chain teams to ensure delivery against cost, schedule and performance targets.
As a System Design Authority you will help drive technical direction for future capability development and contribute to wider standardisation and technology roadmap activity within a highly specialist engineering environment.
What you will need
• Eligibility for UK SC clearance
• Strong systems engineering background
• Experience in complex system architecture design
• Ability to lead technical decision making
• Exposure to full system lifecycle delivery
Technical background (desirable)
Experience or exposure in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial (although other relevant technical backgrounds will be considered):
• Sonar or seismic array systems
• Signal processing, sensor data or telemetry
• Real time or decision support systems
• Towed array or cable handling systems
• Weapon or countermeasure systems
• Acoustic, RF or electromagnetic systems
• Industrial automation or control systems
• Safety critical systems engineering
• System modelling and simulation
• Submarine or marine systems concepts and technologies
