The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Supervisor / Lift Supervisor to join a major rail infrastructure project based in Hindley, working with one of the UK’s leading Tier 1 construction and infrastructure contractors.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term, high-profile rail and civil engineering scheme delivering critical infrastructure upgrades across the North West rail network. The project involves extensive civil engineering works, structural upgrades, access improvements, rail-side construction activities, and complex lifting operations within live railway environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating site activities, supervising subcontractors, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring works are delivered efficiently within strict rail compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervising day-to-day site operations on rail and civil engineering works
* Managing subcontractors and workforce activities
* Overseeing lifting operations and ensuring compliance with lift plans
* Conducting site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections
* Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and quality standards
* Coordinating with engineers, managers, and rail personnel
* Maintaining health & safety standards within live rail environments
* Supporting delivery teams with documentation and reporting
Essential Requirements
* Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety)
* Valid CSCS Card
* Lift Supervisor qualification
* Previous experience on rail infrastructure or civil engineering projects
* Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
* Ability to lead teams and coordinate multiple work fronts
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable
* SSSTS or SMSTS
* Experience working on Network Rail projects
* Temporary Works awareness
* CPCS Appointed Person or Crane Supervisor (advantageous)
