You are required to safeguard students' wellbeing, feedback at the end of the day to the cover manager, including reporting any issues.
As a Teaching Assistant you could either work on a 1-2-1 or in a small group setting. The role of a Teaching Assistant could see you working with students with SEND or students who have been identified as requiring catch up. As a Teaching Assistant you will be required to converse with the subject teacher to discuss specific requirements for the lesson.
