Are you an experienced Senior Project Planner with strong Primavera P6 experience looking to join a growing business delivering major energy and infrastructure projects?
I'm recruiting for a Senior Project Planner to join an established project delivery team based in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
This is a key planning position supporting the successful delivery of complex engineering and construction projects. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams, site teams and clients, taking responsibility for developing, maintaining and communicating robust project programmes.
Candidates with experience across Energy, Renewables, Power, Electrical Infrastructure or Utilities will be particularly well suited to the role. However, experienced Planners from Mechanical, M&E, Civil Engineering or major infrastructure backgrounds will also be considered.
The Role
As Senior Project Planner, you'll provide planning and project controls support throughout the project lifecycle, helping delivery teams understand programme performance, upcoming risks and the actions required to keep projects on track.
Responsibilities will include:
* Developing and maintaining detailed construction programmes using Primavera P6
* Producing fully integrated project schedules from project scope, contract information and WBS
* Reviewing contract documentation and identifying key programme requirements
* Labour and resource loading project schedules
* Producing progress reports, S-curves, look-ahead programmes and performance information
* Monitoring actual progress against baseline programmes
* Identifying programme risks, delays, constraints and potential project roadblocks
* Supporting programme recovery and mitigation strategies
* Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams and site delivery teams
* Supporting tender and bid programmes where required
* Participating in planning and programme review meetings
* Supporting client programme negotiations
* Communicating programme performance, risks and early warnings clearly to internal and external stakeholders
* Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced Planners
The original brief places particular emphasis on the Planner being able to work directly with the Project Manager while also negotiating and agreeing programme requirements with the client/main contractor.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have:
* Strong experience as a Project Planner, Senior Project Planner, Planning Engineer or Senior Planning Engineer
* Excellent working knowledge of Primavera P6
* Previous experience within Energy, Renewables, Power, Electrical or Utilities infrastructure
* Alternatively, strong Mechanical, M&E, Civil Engineering or major construction/infrastructure experience
* Good working knowledge of NEC contracts
* Experience developing and maintaining construction programmes
* Strong understanding of critical path, progress measurement, programme risk and schedule performance
* Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Confidence working directly with clients and senior project stakeholders
* Ability to identify programme issues early and communicate practical solutions
