How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The Chartered Building Surveyor will provide a broad range of professional and project-based Building Surveying services across commercial, public sector, institutional and other property portfolios.

Alongside delivering projects and professional instructions, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new Building Surveying team, helping to establish strong technical standards, develop client relationships and support the long-term growth of the service.

The position will involve a combination of surveys, technical advisory work, contract administration and the management of refurbishment, maintenance and reinstatement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake technical due diligence inspections and prepare detailed client reports.
  • Prepare Schedules of Condition and Schedules of Dilapidations.
  • Prepare specifications, schedules of work, tender documentation and technical reports.
  • Prepare Reinstatement Cost Assessments where required.
  • Manage maintenance, repair, refurbishment and insurance reinstatement projects from initial instruction through to completion.
  • Act as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent on construction and refurbishment projects.
  • Administer projects under JCT and other relevant UK forms of contract.
  • Support clients with feasibility studies, project scoping and technical due diligence.
  • Advise clients on Building Regulations, statutory requirements and property-related compliance matters.
  • Provide advice in relation to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, design teams and other consultants throughout all stages of projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary consultancy team.
  • Contribute ideas and technical expertise to help establish and develop the new Building Surveying team.
  • Support the continued growth of the Building Surveying service as the consultancy expands its UK presence.

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • MRICS Chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or working towards
  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related construction/property discipline.
  • Strong experience within a Building Surveying consultancy or similar professional environment.
  • Broad experience across professional and project Building Surveying services.
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology and building pathology.
  • Experience undertaking condition surveys, PPM surveys and technical due diligence.
  • Experience preparing Schedules of Condition and Dilapidations.
  • Experience managing refurbishment, maintenance or reinstatement projects.
  • Good working knowledge of JCT contracts with previous Contract Administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CDM Regulations and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Experience across commercial, public sector or institutional projects would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple client instructions simultaneously.
  • Full UK driving licence.
