The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Blue Water Recruitment are currently working with several leading construction contractors based in South Wales who are looking to appoint experienced Quantity Surveyors to join their commercial team and support the delivery of major construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established organisation delivering high-value projects across a range of sectors.
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role within the project team, managing the commercial performance of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring financial control, contractual compliance, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the commercial aspects of assigned construction projects
* Prepare cost forecasts, valuations, and financial reports
* Monitor project costs, risks, and opportunities
* Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and payments
* Review and manage variations, compensation events, and change control
* Support the preparation of monthly commercial reports
* Assist with contract administration and final account negotiations
* Work closely with project teams, clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
* Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and reporting requirements
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
* Experience working for a main contractor, specialist contractor, or subcontractor environment
* Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
* Experience managing subcontract packages and project costs
* Good knowledge of procurement, valuations, and change management
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience preferred
Desirable Experience:
* Experience delivering projects within sectors such as commercial, industrial, infrastructure, healthcare, education, defence, or public sector
* Experience working on projects ranging from £multi-million value
* Working knowledge of JCT, NEC, or other standard forms of contract
