How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Warwickshire College Group (WCG) is a forward-thinking, multi-campus educational institution rooted in the Midlands, dedicated to empowering learners and driving regional prosperity. WCG has recently launched WCG Drive, a 14-16 Direct Entry School at our Warwick Trident College campus from September 2026. Students study three core GCSEs plus a Level 1 or 2 qualification in either Engineering or Motor Vehicle.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced English Teacher to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English. You will report to the Headteacher of 14-16 and help shape the English curriculum. Experience of supporting students with SEMH needs is valued. We are also interested in candidates who could deliver PE, or Life Skills and PHSE, as part of a dual role.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

Develop the English curriculum, ensuring creativity, appropriate use of technology and outstanding quality against WCG Drive aims.

Teach GCSE and Functional Skills English through classroom and online teaching, tutorials, outreach and work experience placements.

Plan, develop and evaluate courses and course materials, and complete the associated preparation, marking and administration.

Maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievement, and agree target timescales with each learner.

Support learners’ needs by liaising with colleagues, and keep parents and learners informed through reports, parent evenings and regular contact.

Have ambitious expectations for all learners, including those with SEN and disabilities, and create a positive, safe and enriching learning environment.

Follow awarding body and College guidance on assessment, take part in internal verification and moderation, and support College quality assurance.

Work with the Headteacher on identifying barriers to the centre’s effectiveness and on realistic, timely improvement strategies.

Take part in team meetings, training and CPD, including the College’s Annual Reflection process.

You may also be asked to undertake exam invigilation during busy exam periods. Training will be provided.

Experience of working with students with SEND, EAL or SEMH needs, and of providing effective pastoral support

Ability to use a range of teaching strategies and assessment data to track progress and put effective interventions in place

Ability to maintain a positive, safe and disciplined classroom in line with school policy

Proficiency with digital tools such as MS Teams, Google Classroom and interactive whiteboards, with strong administrative and organisational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a fluent level of spoken and written English
