How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Authorised Person (SAP)
    Location: Hamilton, Scotland
Sector: High Voltage Electrical Engineering & Power Distribution

    The Opportunity:
I'm currently working with an established electrical engineering business that specialises in high-voltage installation, maintenance and power distribution services across the UK.

They are looking to bring an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) into their team to support the delivery of a range of HV projects.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge, experience working on private HV networks and a genuine commitment to safety. You'll play an important role in delivering construction, maintenance and asset replacement projects, while working closely with operational teams and customers to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

    What will you be doing?

Managing HV construction, maintenance and asset replacement projects across 11kV-33kV distribution networks.
Coordinating HV outages with operational teams and customers to ensure works are planned and delivered safely.
Carrying out HV switching, isolation and earthing activities, alongside issuing the relevant safety documentation.
Supporting the testing and commissioning of HV distribution systems.
Providing technical input and solutions to meet customer requirements and project specifications.
Overseeing site activities, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring work meets required quality standards.
Taking responsibility for site health and safety, promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with HV operational procedures.
Supporting onshore and offshore maintenance activities as required. What are we looking for?

Current HV Senior Authorisation status, gained through a DNO or another relevant organisation.
At least five years' experience within an electrical contracting environment.
Essential experience working with private HV networks.
A strong understanding of HV switching, isolation, earthing and operational safety procedures.
Experience with HV construction, maintenance, testing and commissioning.
Knowledge of HV switchgear and protection systems.
City & Guilds in HV Operational Safety.
An HNC in Electrical Engineering, ideally specialising in Power Distribution, or an equivalent qualification, would be beneficial.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications would also be advantageous. Alongside your technical experience, you'll be organised, comfortable working under pressure and confident making decisions where safety is concerned. You'll need strong communication skills, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively with customers, site teams and subcontractors.

You'll be joining an established business delivering essential electrical infrastructure services, with the opportunity to contribute to a varied portfolio of HV projects and maintenance works.

There may also be opportunities for further training for the right candidate, making this worth exploring if you're looking for your next step within the HV sector.
