How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Design Manager – Residential Development / Housing & Apartments

Salary: £55,000+ Depending on Experience | Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join an established and ambitious property development and construction business delivering residential developments across the region.

The business specialises in housing and apartment developments, typically delivering schemes of up to 75 plots, and is looking to strengthen its team with a commercially aware, technically capable Design Manager who can take responsibility for projects throughout both the pre-construction and construction stages.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who enjoys being involved in the complete development process rather than simply managing design information once a project reaches site.

    The Role

As Design Manager, you'll take responsibility for coordinating and managing the design process from initial feasibility and pre-construction through to project delivery, completion and handover.

Working closely with the Development, Commercial and Construction teams, you'll ensure designs are technically compliant, commercially viable, coordinated and delivered in line with programme.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    *

Managing design throughout pre-contract and post-contract stages

    *

Coordinating architects, engineers and external consultants

    *

    Reviewing and managing design information

    *

Supporting planning applications and discharge of conditions

    *

Managing design programmes and key deliverables

    *

    Ensuring Building Regulations compliance

    *

Coordinating structural, architectural and M&E designs

    *

    Identifying design risks and opportunities

    *

Supporting value engineering and buildability reviews

    *

Working closely with commercial and site teams

    *

    Managing design changes during construction

    *

Liaising with local authorities, consultants and stakeholders

    *

Ensuring design information is available to meet construction programmes

    *

Supporting technical approvals, completion and handover

    Your Background

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience across residential development, housebuilding, apartments or multi-unit residential construction.

You could currently be working as a Design Manager, Technical Manager or Design Coordinator looking to take the next step.

    Ideally, you'll have:

    *

Previous Design Management or Technical Management experience

    *

A strong background in residential construction

    *

Experience managing design from pre-construction through to completion

    *

Good knowledge of planning and Building Regulations

    *

    Experience coordinating external consultants

    *

    Strong technical construction knowledge

    *

An understanding of buildability and commercial considerations

    *

    Excellent organisational and communication skills

    *

The confidence to manage multiple projects and priorities

Experience working on housing developments, apartment schemes or mixed residential projects would be particularly attractive.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a chance to join a business where you'll have genuine involvement in the projects you help deliver.

With schemes typically reaching up to 75 plots, you'll be close enough to the detail to influence design decisions, resolve challenges and see the results of your work throughout construction.

The opportunity will suit somebody who enjoys responsibility, wants to contribute to the wider development process and is looking for a long-term position within residential construction.

    Salary & Package

£55,000+ depending upon experience, with the overall package to be discussed.

If you're an experienced Design Manager, Technical Manager or Senior Design Coordinator with a residential construction background, please send me your CV or contact me directly for a confidential conversation.

All applications and enquiries will be treated in complete confidence
