How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client is a prestigious buy-side electronic trading business. Additional headcount has been approved for a Senior Low Latency Network & Systems Engineer to help develop and optimise its high-performance trading infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to work on technically demanding infrastructure where network performance, system efficiency and execution speed are critical to trading performance.

You will take ownership of engineering and optimising ultra-low-latency infrastructure spanning Linux servers, high-performance networks, physical colocation environments and AWS cloud infrastructure.

The role offers significant technical ownership, with the opportunity to influence infrastructure architecture, introduce new technologies and deliver measurable improvements in trading system performance.

    WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY?

This is a senior, hands-on engineering opportunity within a technologically sophisticated global trading environment.

You will be working on infrastructure where improvements measured in microseconds can have a direct impact on trading performance.

The position offers the opportunity to work with advanced networking technologies, solve complex infrastructure challenges and take meaningful ownership of critical trading systems.

The package includes exceptional bonus opportunities and a wider benefits offering.

    KEY RESPOSIBILITIES:

    * Design, build and optimise low-latency infrastructure supporting high-frequency and electronic trading platforms.

    * Improve network connectivity and trading system performance, minimising latency, jitter and packet loss.

    * Configure and tune Linux systems for maximum performance, including CPU affinity, NUMA optimisation, kernel tuning and kernel bypass.

    * Engineer and maintain high-performance networking across physical data centres, colocation facilities and AWS environments.

    * Optimise connectivity to trading venues and exchanges, working with network providers to improve reliability and execution speeds.

    * Develop automated infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using Terraform, Ansible and scripting technologies.

    * Implement monitoring and performance analysis tools to identify network bottlenecks, latency spikes and infrastructure issues.

    * Work with high-performance network hardware, including low-latency switches and network interface cards (NICs).

    * Collaborate with trading, development and infrastructure teams to continuously improve system performance and resilience.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    Essential experience:

    * You will have experience supporting latency-sensitive trading environments, including HFT, proprietary trading, electronic market making or similar high-performance financial systems.

    * Strong experience engineering and optimising Linux-based infrastructure in high-performance, low-latency environments.

    * In-depth understanding of Linux internals, system performance tuning, CPU pinning, NUMA and kernel optimisation.

    * Advanced networking knowledge, including BGP, multicast, TCP/IP and AWS networking

    * Experience working with physical servers, colocation infrastructure and high-performance networking equipment.

    * Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, Terraform and/or Ansible.

    * Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure performance issues, including latency, packet loss and network congestion.

    * Ability to take ownership of technically complex infrastructure projects from design through to implementation.

Additional experience that would be advantageous:

    * Kernel bypass technologies and advanced Linux network optimisation.

    * High-performance NICs and specialist networking hardware from vendors such as Arista or Cisco.

    * Infrastructure supporting algorithmic trading, exchange connectivity or real-time market data.

    * Experience optimising performance across hybrid cloud and bare-metal infrastructure.

    * Working with specialist low-latency connectivity providers and data centre cross-connects.

    * Exposure to cryptocurrency or digital asset trading infrastructure
