How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Service Area: Long-Term Adult Social Care
    Job Type: Temporary Contract

    About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist – Adult Social Care to join the Long-Term Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy Team based in Colindale.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Occupational Therapist to support adults aged 18 and over who have long-term disabilities, health conditions, frailty or age-related needs that affect their ability to manage daily activities and maintain independence at home and in the community.

You will undertake person-centred, strengths-based assessments and deliver practical interventions to promote independence, improve safety and wellbeing, and support individuals to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Working within the framework of the Care Act 2014, professional standards and local authority policies, you will help identify appropriate solutions that reduce risks, support independent living and delay or prevent the need for ongoing care and support services.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify functional difficulties, risks and barriers to independence.

    * Assess individuals' abilities in daily living activities, including mobility, transfers and personal care.

    * Provide advice, information and self-management strategies to promote independence and improve quality of life.

    * Assess, recommend and facilitate the provision of appropriate equipment, including simple, complex and bespoke solutions.

    * Undertake assessments for minor and major adaptations to properties, including Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)-funded works where appropriate.

    * Participate in a designated duty day each week, managing and triaging incoming referrals according to urgency, risk and service priorities.

    * Complete manual handling assessments and provide guidance to informal carers and care providers.

    * Undertake moving and handling assessments for adults with complex physical needs.

    * Work collaboratively with health professionals, housing providers, care agencies and voluntary sector organisations to coordinate effective support.

    * Develop proportionate, evidence-based interventions that address identified needs and promote independence.

    * Maintain accurate and timely assessment records, reports and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and professional requirements.

    * Ensure all assessments and interventions comply with the Care Act 2014, relevant legislation, professional standards and local authority procedures.

    * Adopt a person-centred, outcome-focused approach that promotes dignity, choice, safety and wellbeing.

    Essential Skills and Experience

    * Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.

    * Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

    * Experience of occupational therapy assessments within adult social care or a relevant clinical setting.

    * Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and legislation relevant to adult social care and independent living.

    * Experience assessing functional ability, mobility, transfers, personal care and moving and handling needs.

    * Knowledge of equipment provision, minor and major adaptations, and Disabled Facilities Grants.

    * Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise referrals according to risk and urgency.

    * Strong assessment, analytical, communication and report-writing skills.

    * Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.

    * A commitment to promoting independence, dignity, choice and positive outcomes for adults with care and support needs.

    What We Offer

    * Competitive pay rate of £34.31 per hour (Umbrella).

    * An opportunity to make a meaningful difference to adults with disabilities, long-term health conditions and complex support needs.

    * The chance to work within a specialist long-term adult social care occupational therapy service.

    * An opportunity to apply your clinical expertise to promote independence, improve safety and support people to remain in their own homes.
