How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering & Power Infrastructure

Location: Glasgow / West of Scotland
    Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits
    Job Type: Permanent

Senior Quantity Surveyor | Glasgow | Civil Engineering | Utilities | Infrastructure | NEC Contracts

JL Renewable Solutions are recruiting for two experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors to join an established and growing infrastructure contractor delivering major engineering and construction projects across Scotland.

With a strong pipeline of work supporting the UK's electricity infrastructure, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business investing in its commercial teams and delivering long-term projects across the power and utilities sectors.

We are particularly interested in speaking with Quantity Surveyors from civil engineering, construction, utilities and infrastructure backgrounds. Previous experience within the electricity transmission and distribution sector would be beneficial but is not essential.

    The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of infrastructure projects, working closely with Commercial Managers, Project Managers and operational delivery teams.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    *

Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of assigned projects.

    *

Administering NEC contracts, including compensation events, variations and change control.

    *

Managing subcontractor procurement, administration, valuations and payments.

    *

Preparing cost reports, forecasts and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).

    *

Monitoring project expenditure, budgets, cash flow and commercial performance.

    *

Preparing and assessing applications for payment and final accounts.

    *

Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.

    *

Supporting project delivery teams to maximise commercial performance.

    *

Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

    About You

We are looking for commercially astute Quantity Surveyors who are comfortable taking ownership of their projects and working collaboratively with operational teams.

    Ideally, you will have:

    *

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.

    *

A background in civil engineering, construction, utilities or infrastructure projects.

    *

Strong subcontractor management and contract administration experience.

    *

    Working knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.

    *

Experience with cost reporting, forecasting, CVRs and change management.

    *

Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

    *

The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

    *

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in HV substations, overhead lines, underground cabling or power infrastructure would be advantageous, although candidates from wider construction and civil engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

    What's on Offer?

    *

    Salary of £60,000 - £70,000

    *

    Benefits package

    *

Opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects across Scotland

    *

Long-term project opportunities within a growing sector

    *

Supportive and experienced commercial and operational teams

    *

Opportunity to develop your career within the energy infrastructure industry

    Location

We are recruiting for two positions across Glasgow and the wider West of Scotland.

Candidates based in Glasgow, Paisley, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Ayr and surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.

Flexibility to travel to project locations across the region will be important.
