How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Glasgow with site travel
Salary: Up to £35,000, dependent on experience
    Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm + OT
Benefits: Company van and fuel card

    The Role

A specialist infrastructure contractor is looking for a SHEQ Coordinator to support its rail projects across Scotland, including electrification and groundwork packages in Fife.
Working alongside the SHEQ Manager and wider project teams, you'll provide a combination of site-based H&S support and administrative coordination, helping ensure project documentation, management systems and compliance requirements are kept up to date.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their SHEQ career who wants to develop their technical knowledge while gaining practical experience across live rail projects.

    Responsibilities

Support the SHEQ team with day-to-day Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements across rail projects.
Assist with preparing and reviewing risk assessments, method statements, Work Package Plans and Construction Phase Plans.
Help maintain project H&S documentation, records and compliance trackers.
Support site inspections and audits, working alongside experienced SHEQ professionals.
Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, reporting and corrective action tracking.
Help develop toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce engagement materials.
Maintain non-conformance records and follow up on outstanding actions.
Support the upkeep of the Integrated Management System and relevant ISO standards.
Assist with internal and supply-chain audits, including recording findings and monitoring corrective actions.
Coordinate compliance documentation and evidence for client and industry accreditation portals.
Support environmental reporting, sustainability initiatives and relevant project performance data.
Liaise with project teams and stakeholders to help ensure SHEQ requirements are met.
Travel to sites as required to support project delivery.
    Essential Requirements

Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
A general understanding of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work as part of a team.
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites.
Willingness to work outside standard hours when project requirements demand it.
    Desirable Requirements

Previous experience within rail, construction or engineering.
NEBOSH qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
Affiliate membership of IOSH or ISEP, or working towards membership.
Understanding of SHEQ management systems and ISO standards.
Flexibility to support occasional weekend, night or additional-hours work.
