How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job title: SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD – Merton

    Location: Merton, London

Salary: £93 - £105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.

    Start date: 9 November 2026

Contract: Full time, temporary, long term.

Hours: Term time; daily hours and assignment arrangements confirmed before placement.

The right support gives a child more ways to join in, ask for help and show what they know. Transparency Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant in Merton to work with autistic pupils in an education setting.

You will help make learning accessible while encouraging independence, following approaches agreed with the teacher and SENCO. We are looking for someone who notices when an adjustment is needed and responds calmly, without rushing pupils or making assumptions about their needs.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare resources that make instructions and routines easier to follow.

    • Support one-to-one or small-group learning as directed by teaching staff.

    • Recognise signs of sensory overload and use agreed support strategies.

    • Encourage pupils to express choices and practise independent skills.

    • Keep accurate observations and contribute to consistent communication across the team.

    Requirements

    • Experience supporting autism in a school, childcare or relevant care setting.

    • Patience, good observation and an understanding of individual differences.

    • The ability to use structured guidance while responding sensitively to the pupil.

    • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one as part of the recruitment process.

    What the role offers

    • An opportunity to develop practical experience of inclusive education.

    • A role where small adjustments can improve a pupil’s whole school day.

    Why work via Transparency Education?

You will have a dedicated consultant for ongoing support and guidance, with access to CPD through our in-house team of experienced senior leaders.

Our refer-a-friend scheme pays £150 for each candidate you refer after they have worked and been paid for their first 10 days. We pay in line with applicable Agency Workers Regulations (AWR).

    Apply

Share your CV and relevant autism-support experience to discuss this Merton role.

Email or call (phone number removed). Please include your availability for a 9 November 2026 start.

If you have not heard from us within two working days, your application has not progressed for this role. We may contact you about other suitable education opportunities.

    Safer recruitment

Transparency Education is committed to equality and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and appropriate safer recruitment checks
