How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Would you like to use your finance skills to support an award-winning local hospice? The Shakespeare Hospice provides services and facilities for patients, carers and families across South Warwickshire and the surrounding areas. We are looking for a friendly, motivated and highly organised Finance Assistant to help keep our day-to-day financial administration accurate, efficient and well controlled.

    About the role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support income processing and a broad range of finance activities across the Hospice’s retail, fundraising and operational services. You will work with colleagues, suppliers and funders to maintain accurate records, resolve discrepancies and ensure transactions are processed in line with Hospice procedures.

    Key responsibilities

Process income from retail shops, fundraising and online giving platforms, ensuring complete and accurate records.
Produce sales invoices, process purchase invoices and support supplier payment runs.
Maintain and reconcile sales, purchase and control accounts, bank accounts, credit cards and retail accounts.
Keep supplier, donor and customer records up to date and liaise with suppliers and funders to resolve queries.
Apply accurate budget, department and VAT coding and obtain appropriate authorisation for costs.
Manage Gift Aid records and maintain an accurate audit trail in line with HMRC requirements.
Import payment and supporter data into the CRM database and ensure finance and fundraising systems agree.
    About you

You will have experience in a similar finance role, including sales and purchase ledger processes, control account reconciliations and a basic understanding of VAT. You will be confident using Microsoft Excel and other finance or database systems, with strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.

You will be able to organise competing priorities, meet deadlines, communicate clearly and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience of Xero, CRM systems, charity finance, Gift Aid, or working in the voluntary or healthcare sector would be an advantage. An AAT qualification or similar is desirable but not essential.

    Why join us?

This is an opportunity to bring your finance expertise to a valued local organisation and make a practical contribution to services supporting patients, carers and families. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, integrity and the Hospice’s vision and values.

Please provide a CV and cover letter - guide two A4 pages detailing how your skills and experience match the requirements of the role.
