Are you an experienced Factory Manager, Production Manager or Shift Manager with a proven track record in food manufacturing?
We're looking for a hands-on and driven Backshift Factory Manager to lead a large production operation within a complex, high-volume food manufacturing environment. This is a critical leadership role where you'll be responsible for delivering operational performance, driving standards and ensuring the safe, efficient and profitable running of production.
Please note: Food manufacturing experience is essential. Due to the complexity, pace and regulatory requirements of the operation, candidates from non-food environments will not be considered.
The Role
Reporting into the senior operations team, you'll take full responsibility for the backshift operation, leading production teams to achieve targets across safety, quality, service, people and cost.
This is a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly, so we're looking for a leader who can make decisions with confidence, manage operational challenges and continuously drive performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop production teams to deliver daily operational targets
• Drive a strong food safety and quality culture across the factory
• Ensure production plans are achieved whilst maintaining efficiency and cost control
• Manage labour, productivity, waste and downtime performance
• Lead investigations and corrective actions relating to operational issues
• Coach, develop and motivate frontline managers and team leaders
• Ensure compliance with all health & safety, food safety and customer standards
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance and efficiencies
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Technical, Planning and Supply Chain teams
• Deliver KPI improvements across service, quality, yield and productivity
About You
To be successful, you will have:
• Proven leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment
• Experience managing large teams within a high-volume production operation
• Strong understanding of food safety, GMP and manufacturing best practice
• A track record of delivering operational and KPI improvements
• Excellent people management and coaching skills
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving capability
• The ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• A hands-on leadership style with a genuine passion for operational excellence
