How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

    Location: Hyde, Greater Manchester
    Salary: £45,000 to £47,000 depending on experience
    Hours: 36 hours per week | Rotating shifts

    The Opportunity

    We are recruiting for an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join a well established and growing manufacturing business based in Hyde.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer who enjoys a varied, hands on role working with automated machinery, production equipment and electrical installations.

    You'll be joining a stable manufacturing business offering long term career security, a supportive engineering team and the opportunity to work across a diverse range of machinery and equipment.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring production machinery, electrical systems and factory equipment operate efficiently and reliably.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Carrying out electrical and mechanical fault finding, repairs and maintenance across the manufacturing facility.

    Working on automated assembly cells, injection moulding machines, extrusion lines, hydraulic presses and conveyor systems.

    Diagnosing faults on PLC and HMI controlled machinery.

    Completing planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns.

    Undertaking electrical installation work, including single phase and three phase systems, armoured cabling, lighting and power installations.

    Supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.

    Carrying out electrical panel wiring and modifications where required.

    Identifying opportunities to improve machinery reliability and reduce downtime.

    Supporting and mentoring apprentices where appropriate.

    Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations.

    What We're Looking For

    We are looking for a practical, proactive Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical fault finding skills and a good understanding of mechanical systems.

    Essential requirements:

    NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a relevant discipline.

    Apprentice trained or equivalent practical experience.

    Strong electrical fault finding and diagnostic skills.

    Good mechanical maintenance knowledge.

    Experience fault finding on PLC and HMI controlled equipment.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

    Desirable experience:

    Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.

    Experience with injection moulding machinery, hydraulic presses, extrusion equipment or automated assembly systems.

    Electrical installation experience, including three phase systems and panel wiring.

    18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

    HNC or HND in an engineering discipline.

    IPAF certification.

    Working Hours

    36 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern, Monday to Friday
