How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Help Young Carers Take a Break from Caring
Do you love working with children? Are you passionate about helping young people build confidence, make friends and enjoy new experiences?
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young carers aged 5-12. Young carers often take on caring responsibilities at home that can impact their social lives, education and wellbeing. Our role is to give them the chance to relax, have fun, build resilience and connect with others who understand their experiences.
    About the Role
You’ll plan and deliver a range of engaging activities across West Surrey, creating safe, welcoming spaces where young carers can connect with others, grow in confidence and feel supported.
You’ll build positive relationships with children and families, work alongside schools and community partners, and help identify young carers who may benefit from our support.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. One day you could be running a craft session or outdoor activity, the next planning a holiday programme or supporting a child attending their first group.
    We’re Looking For Someone Who:
    * Has experience working with children aged 5-12 in a professional setting.
    * Can plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities.
    * Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection.
    * Builds positive relationships with children, families and professionals.
    * Is organised, proactive and able to work independently.
    * Shares our values of Focus, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence.
    * Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
Experience in roles such as Youth Worker, Play Worker, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Children’s Support Worker or Family Support Worker would be particularly valuable, although we welcome applications from anyone with relevant experience.
    Working Pattern
    * 18 hours per week, across three days.
    * Wednesday must be a working day.
    * Burpham office, with regular travel across West Surrey.
    * Up to two evenings per month (until 8.00pm).
    * One weekend day per month.
    * Availability during school holidays is required.
    * Occasional overnight stays may be required to support residential activities.
    Why Join Us?
At Action for Carers Surrey, you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team dedicated to improving the lives of unpaid carers across the county.
Most importantly, you’ll see first-hand the difference your work makes, helping young carers build confidence, make friends and enjoy the childhood experiences every young person deserves.
    Our Benefits Include:
    * Generous annual leave – 28 days plus Bank Holidays for full-time colleagues, rising to 31 days with length of service.
    * Company sick pay from day one – Because your wellbeing matters.
    * Paid carers’ leave – Recognising and supporting colleagues with caring responsibilities.
    * Paid volunteering leave – Up to two days per year to support a cause that matters to you.
    * Personal celebration day – An additional paid day to celebrate a birthday, family milestone or other special occasion.
    * HSF Health Plan membership – Including healthcare support, Perkbox discounts and rewards, and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
    * Flu jab reimbursement scheme – Helping you look after your health and wellbeing.
    * Blue Light Card membership – Offering discounts on a wide range of goods and services
    * Employee payroll loan scheme – Providing support with unexpected expenses when needed.
    * Pension scheme – With Smart Pension, helping you plan for your future.
    * Bringing people together – Including our annual employee conference and summer social event, giving colleagues opportunities to connect, collaborate and celebrate our collective impact.
    * Staff Carers Group – Offering connection, understanding and peer support from colleagues who have caring responsibilities.
