How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Mechanical Engineering Manager – Medical Devices

ARCA is partnered with a leading product development consultancy looking to strengthen its Medical Devices team with experienced consultants who can combine technical expertise with project leadership and client engagement.

There are multiple positions available across differing levels of seniority, with the scope and level of responsibility shaped around the experience of the individual.

This is a broad role for someone who wants to remain close to the engineering while taking greater ownership of complex medical device development programmes, multidisciplinary teams and client relationships.

    The role:

    * Lead medical device development projects across the full lifecycle, from concept through to manufacture

    * Take ownership of technical direction, project delivery, budgets and timescales

    * Lead multidisciplinary teams across mechanical engineering, electronics, software and industrial design

    * Work directly with MedTech, diagnostics and life sciences clients

    * Guide engineering teams through complex product development and design challenges

    * Build long-term client relationships and contribute to the commercial side of consultancy

    What we're looking for:

    * Strong mechanical engineering background with significant injection-moulded product development experience

    * Consultancy experience, with direct client-facing responsibility

    * Medical device development experience within an ISO 13485 environment

    * Experience taking complete products through the development lifecycle

    * Strong design for manufacture (DFM) and high-volume manufacturing knowledge

    * Experience leading technical projects and multidisciplinary engineering teams

    * Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills

    * Strong engineering degree / academic background

The opportunity could suit individuals currently working as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, Technical/Project Lead, Senior Consultant or Associate Director, depending on experience.
