As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and on task with pre-prepared lesson materials. Key Responsibilities
Supervise classes across the secondary school during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and complete the work provided.
Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and communicate instructions clearly to students.
Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
Provide guidance and support to students where appropriate, helping them stay focused on their learning.
Report back to teaching staff on lesson progress, student engagement, and any behavioural concerns.
Encourage a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment where all students can learn effectively.
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence in supervising groups of students and managing classroom behaviour.
A calm, organised, and adaptable approach to working in a busy school environment.
The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting young people in achieving their potential.
