How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You'll be involved in developing, enhancing, and maintaining a range of business-critical applications using C#, .NET, Azure, SQL Server, and modern web technologies.     Key Responsibilities

    Software Development & Delivery

    Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions using agreed technologies and development standards.

    Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

    Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

    Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

    Support the maintenance and enhancement of existing applications and services.

    Assist with troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving production issues.

    Track development effort against estimates and provide regular progress updates.

    Ensure all development work is delivered to agreed quality standards and timescales.

    Agile Team Collaboration

    * Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including:

    * Sprint Planning

    * Daily Stand-Ups

    * Backlog Refinement

    * Estimation Sessions

    * Retrospectives

    * Collaborate closely with Developers, Testers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders.

    * Share knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise with colleagues.

    * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development team.

    Security, Compliance & Governance

    Apply secure development principles and follow industry best practices to protect systems, applications, and data.

    Adhere to information security, data protection, and compliance requirements at all times.

    Follow organisational policies, procedures, and development standards.

    Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

    Support adherence to relevant regulatory and industry standards where applicable.

    Documentation & Quality Assurance

    Review and contribute to technical design and requirements documentation.

    Produce and maintain technical documentation relating to development activities.

    Support testing activities and ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.

    Contribute to process improvements and quality initiatives.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Core Development

    Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.

    Experience supporting and integrating with legacy systems, including older .NET Framework applications and Windows Services.

    Strong proficiency with Visual Studio.

    Experience developing and maintaining web applications using ASP.NET MVC, Razor, or Blazor.

    Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.

    Desktop application development experience (WinForms or similar).

    Experience with Entity Framework / EF Core.

    Solid understanding of SOLID principles and software design patterns.

    Ability to write clean, scalable, and maintainable code.

    Database & SQL Server

    Strong SQL Server development skills.

    * Experience creating and maintaining:

    * Tables

    * Indexes

    * Stored Procedures

    * Ability to write and optimise complex SQL queries.

    * Query performance tuning experience.

    * Comfortable working with both DDL and DML operations.

    Front-End Development

    * Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

    * Experience using Bootstrap or similar UI frameworks.

    * Understanding of client-side and server-side validation techniques.

    Application Architecture

    * Experience designing layered and service-based architectures.

    * Strong understanding of Dependency Injection principles.

    * Experience modernising and refactoring legacy applications.

    Essential

    * A-Level qualification (or equivalent experience)

    Desirable

    * Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
