How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Engineering Lead - Electrical

    Location: Coventry
    Salary: £50,000-£60,000 per annum
    Employment: Full-time

    The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to take the lead on complex engineering challenges while remaining technically hands-on?

We are seeking an Engineering Lead - Electrical to provide technical leadership across a large, complex healthcare estate in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical specialist to become the go-to technical authority for critical electrical infrastructure within a busy, 24/7 acute hospital environment.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, maintaining high engineering standards and supporting the development of other engineers, without moving away from hands-on engineering.

You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability and compliance of essential electrical systems that support continuous hospital operations and patient care.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Act as the senior electrical technical specialist across a complex healthcare estate.
    - Lead the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of complex electrical faults affecting critical infrastructure.
    - Provide technical expertise across high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) distribution systems, standby generators, UPS systems and critical power supplies.
    - Undertake Authorised Person (AP) duties and ensure safe systems of work are maintained across the estate.
    - Support electrical lifecycle projects, asset replacement programmes and engineering improvement initiatives.
    - Provide technical guidance, mentoring and knowledge sharing to engineering colleagues.
    - Work collaboratively with hospital stakeholders, Authorising Engineers and specialist contractors to maintain service delivery and compliance.
    - Ensure engineering activities meet relevant safety legislation, technical standards and healthcare engineering guidance.
    - Support the management of electrical risks and contribute to continuous improvement across critical systems.
    - Participate in the senior technical on-call and escalation rota.

    About You
To be successful in this role, you will have significant electrical engineering experience, ideally gained within a hospital, healthcare estate or another complex, safety-critical environment.

    You will also have:
    - A recognised electrical apprenticeship and relevant electrical engineering qualifications.
    - Strong technical knowledge of HV and LV electrical distribution systems.
    - Current or previous Authorised Person (AP) status, ideally covering HV and/or LV systems.
    - Extensive experience in electrical fault-finding, diagnostics and problem-solving.
    - A strong understanding of electrical safety, compliance and safe systems of work.
    - A current 18th Edition qualification.
    - Relevant electrical inspection and testing qualifications.
    - The ability to provide technical leadership and influence engineering decisions.
    - Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with engineering teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.

    Desirable Experience and Qualifications
    The following would be advantageous:
    - Experience working within a healthcare or acute hospital environment.
    - Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and healthcare engineering compliance requirements.
    - Experience in PFI estates or other critical environments.
    - Technical knowledge of standby generation, UPS systems and critical power resilience.
    - Experience supporting electrical lifecycle works and asset replacement programmes.
    - Asbestos awareness training.
    - IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualifications.

    What's on Offer?
    - Salary of £50,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
    - The opportunity to take on a senior technical position within a major healthcare estate.
    - A hands-on engineering role where your technical expertise will be recognised and valued.
    - The opportunity to influence engineering standards, reliability and continuous improvement.
    - The chance to mentor and support other engineers while remaining close to the technical operation.
