Salary: £35,000 basic + £45,000 OTE
DK Recruitment is working with an established automotive business in Falmouth to recruit an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller to join its busy Aftersales team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge and leadership skills who can coordinate workshop operations, maximise technician productivity and ensure customers receive an outstanding service experience.
The Role
As Workshop Controller, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring jobs are allocated efficiently, technicians are supported, and vehicles are repaired and returned to customers within agreed timescales.
Key responsibilities include:
* Planning and controlling incoming workshop work to ensure jobs are allocated effectively and completed on time.
* Assigning work to technicians based on their skill sets, workload and productivity requirements.
* Working closely with Service Advisors, Parts and other departments to maintain an efficient workflow.
* Monitoring vehicle progress throughout the workshop and helping ensure customers are kept informed of any delays or changes.
* Driving technician productivity, performance and repair quality in line with business objectives.
* Supporting, coaching and motivating technicians to achieve daily targets and maintain high standards.
* Ensuring job cards, repair documentation and Vehicle Health Checks are completed accurately.
* Maintaining compliance with manufacturer warranty requirements and established workshop procedures.
* Ensuring health and safety standards are followed throughout the workshop.
* Identifying workflow issues and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
About You
We're looking for an organised, technically confident individual who can lead a busy workshop environment and bring out the best in a team.
You will ideally have:
* Previous experience working within a franchised dealership or similar automotive workshop environment.
* Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to coordinate technicians and work closely with other departments.
* The ability to motivate, coach and support a technical team.
* Good IT skills and confidence using workshop management or service systems.
* The ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and make effective decisions.
* A full, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
* Previous experience as a fully qualified Vehicle Technician.
* Experience in a Workshop Controller, Workshop Supervisor or Senior Technician position.
* Knowledge of manufacturer warranty standards, dealership procedures and workshop performance targets.
Working Hours
* 45 hours per week
* Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:30pm.
* Saturdays: 1 in 4 on a rota basis.
