How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Sub Agent | Nuclear Infrastructure | North West England

We are recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering a major, long-term nuclear infrastructure programme in the North West.

The programme involves the renewal and upgrading of essential infrastructure, including roads, bridges and associated civil engineering works, delivered under NEC contracts. Individual projects typically range in value up to £10m, with larger schemes valued between £10m and £30m.

The wider infrastructure programme is expected to run for approximately 8 to 15 years, providing the opportunity to work on a substantial range of civil engineering projects within a complex nuclear environment.

As Sub Agent, you will take responsibility for a designated section of works, managing engineering teams, subcontractors and construction activities to ensure safe and effective project delivery.

    The Role

You will be responsible for coordinating and managing construction activities within your designated area, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, quality and commercial requirements.

    Key responsibilities:

Lead and manage site engineering teams, including Section Engineers, Site Engineers and junior engineering staff.

Coordinate subcontractors and oversee the delivery of civil engineering works.

Develop and maintain detailed look-ahead programmes, monitoring progress and addressing delays.

Manage plant, labour and material resources to support efficient project delivery.

Work alongside the commercial team to monitor costs, variations and subcontractor performance.

Coordinate temporary works requirements, including relevant approvals, inspections and documentation.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

Liaise with project managers, designers, clients and other stakeholders.

    About You

We are looking for candidates with:

Previous experience as a Sub Agent on civil engineering or major infrastructure projects.

A strong technical background in civil engineering construction.

Experience managing engineering teams and subcontractors.

Knowledge of construction programming, temporary works and quality assurance.

A good understanding of NEC contracts, CDM Regulations and construction health and safety.

    A CSCS Management card.

Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.

Experience within the nuclear sector would be beneficial, although candidates from highways, rail, utilities and other major civil engineering projects will also be considered.

    Package and Benefits

    Salary of £55,000 to £60,000.

    40-hour working week.

    £5,750 annual car allowance.

    Accommodation allowance if required.

Involvement in a major, long-term nuclear infrastructure programme.

Opportunity to work with an established Tier 1 civil engineering contractor.
