How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Acting as a technical specialist who bridges the gap between software development, hardware/embedded platforms, and system deployment. You will configure, merge, and validate Linux-based operating systems, kernels, drivers, and application stacks to ensure everything works reliably on target hardware and pay meticulous attention to testing and validation.

    At Kaon, you'll have the opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, from proposals and customer engagement through to system design, implementation, testing, delivery and in-service support within the UK and overseas.
    This role is ideal for someone with strong Linux expertise and an interest in hardware, looking to apply their skills across the development, production and testing of specialist embedded systems.
    This role will include:
    * Responsibility for configuration, integration and testing of real-time systems and software components;

    * Coordinating with software engineers to specify operating system requirements and create OS images;
    * Specifying hardware requirements and identifying suitable hardware components;
    Please note that due to the nature of Kaon’s work this post is office-based and only open to UK Nationals who are willing and able to satisfy UK Government / MoD security vetting procedures.
