About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IRSE Licensed Signalling Designer to join our signalling design team based in Gateshead.
This is an opportunity for a competent and motivated designer to contribute to signalling design projects, producing accurate, high-quality design outputs across a range of railway signalling assets.
The successful candidate must hold a current, valid IRSE licence in a relevant signalling design category and have demonstrable experience undertaking signalling design activities. This is a full-time, office-based position, with regular attendance at our Gateshead office required. Home working is not available.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce and amend signalling designs in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and project requirements.
* Undertake functionally equivalent design across a range of signalling equipment and assets.
* Carry out design work relating to points, including HW and RCPL equipment, signals, level crossings and track circuits.
* Prepare and maintain accurate signalling drawings, design documentation and associated technical records.
* Ensure designs comply with applicable signalling principles, technical requirements and safety standards.
* Review design requirements, identify potential issues and raise technical queries where necessary.
* Liaise with colleagues, project teams and other stakeholders to support the effective delivery of design work.
* Manage allocated design tasks and deliver outputs within agreed project timescales.
* Maintain appropriate document control and ensure design changes are accurately recorded.
Essential Skills and Experience
* A current, valid IRSE licence in a relevant signalling design category.
* Proven experience working as a Signalling Designer within the railway industry.
* Demonstrable capability in functionally equivalent signalling design.
* Experience with points equipment, including HW and RCPL, signals, level crossings and track circuits.
* A sound understanding of railway signalling standards, design processes and safety requirements.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
* Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a wider signalling design team.
* Willingness and ability to work full-time from the Gateshead office, with no home-working arrangement.
Working Arrangements
The role is based at Team Valley, Gateshead, NE11. Full-time attendance at the office is required, and remote or home working is not available.
