Destination Education is recruiting a dedicated Pastoral Manager / Pastoral Officer to join a secondary school in Romford.
This is an immediate-start position, ongoing indefinitely, offering an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy school environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on young people’s education and wellbeing.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting students’ behaviour, attendance, welfare and personal development, helping to maintain a safe, positive and purposeful learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing student behaviour, addressing incidents and promoting positive conduct.
Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
Monitoring attendance and punctuality, following up concerns and liaising with families.
Building positive relationships with students, parents and teaching staff.
Supporting safeguarding procedures and escalating concerns appropriately.
Supervising students around the school, including during social times.
Working closely with teachers, heads of year and senior leaders to improve student engagement and outcomes.
Maintaining accurate records of incidents, interventions and pastoral support.The Ideal Candidate
Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally in a school or similar setting.
Is confident managing challenging behaviour and de-escalating difficult situations.
Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Is calm, resilient, approachable and able to set clear boundaries.
Understands the importance of safeguarding and student welfare.
Can work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and teaching team.Experience as a Pastoral Officer, Pastoral Manager, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant would be beneficial.
Candidates with relevant youth work or alternative provision experience are also encouraged to apply.

£120.00 - £160.00 per day
