How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you'll play an important role in supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our energy plant. Working as part of a multi-skilled operational team, you'll learn how to monitor plant performance, respond to changing operating conditions and contribute to achieving key business and production targets.

As part of your development, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of operational activities including plant inspections, control room operations, equipment monitoring, sampling and routine operational checks. You'll also support plant start-ups, shutdowns and isolations, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with operational procedures and safe systems of work.

    Key responsibilities

    * Monitoring plant performance and operating conditions through SCADA, DCS and other control systems

    * Carrying out routine inspections, plant checks, testing and sampling activities

    * Supporting the safe start-up, shutdown and isolation of plant equipment

    * Identifying plant issues and contributing to fault finding, root cause analysis and problem-solving activities

    * Participating in safety audits, risk assessments, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives

    * Reporting incidents, hazards and near misses while actively promoting a positive safety culture

    * Ensuring environmental standards are maintained through monitoring and proactive assessments of plant performance and emissions

    * Working closely with Engineering teams during planned maintenance and outage activities

    * Contributing to team and departmental performance targets and operational KPIs

What we need to know about you

We're interested in hearing from candidates who currently work, or have previously worked, in a continuous process, engineering, manufacturing, utilities, production or operational environment.

You should be comfortable working within a fast-paced, safety-critical operation and be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, teamwork and continuous improvement.

    Ideally, you'll have experience of:

    * Working within a 24/7 shift-based environment

    * Monitoring plant performance and responding to changing operating conditions

    * Following safe working procedures and permit-to-work processes

    * Carrying out operational inspections, testing or sampling activities

    * Root cause analysis, fault finding and problem solving

    * Working to operational targets and key performance indicators

    * Reading and interpreting technical documentation, diagrams or P&IDs

    * Using SCADA, DCS or similar process control systems

    You will also have:

    * A good standard of English and Mathematics

    * Strong communication and teamworking skills

    * A keen focus on safety, environmental compliance and continuous improvement

    * A full UK driving licence

Experience within a Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation discipline would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

    What we can offer you

This is an excellent opportunity to develop a long-term career within Energy Operations. You'll receive a structured training programme, mentoring and ongoing support from experienced colleagues, enabling you to build the skills and knowledge required to become a competent Plant Operator.
