How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting SEND and SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming mainstream and specialist schools throughout Redditch.

We have opportunities available for experienced Teaching Assistants, as well as individuals with relevant transferable experience who are looking to develop their careers within education and SEND.

You will play an important role in supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC/ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties and complex needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help young people overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and independence, and achieve their full potential.

    The Role

As a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or within the classroom, depending on the needs of the school and individual learners.

    Your responsibilities may include:

Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs

Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, PMLD and complex learning needs

Helping children access learning and engage positively within the classroom

Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development

Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral support teams

Following individual learning plans, EHCPs and behaviour support strategies

Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and additional learning needs

Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Helping pupils build confidence, independence and essential life skills

    What We're Looking For

Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting

A caring, patient and resilient approach

A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour

    Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a wider school team

A willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge and skills

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

    Desirable Experience:

Previous experience within SEN schools, mainstream schools, alternative provisions or PRUs

Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD or PMLD

Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, Team Teach or other communication and behaviour support strategies

Experience working with children or young people with EHCPs

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications or training

We also welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience in care, youth work, residential support or other roles supporting children and young people with additional needs.

A dedicated consultant supporting you throughout your placements
