Your new company is a leader in their field, based in North Derby and are looking for an experienced and commercially focussed Financial Controller to join their growing organisation on a permanent basis.
Your new role
As a Financial Controller, you will lead the day-to-day finance function. This is a key leadership role within the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and high-quality business partnering across the organisation. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to drive financial performance, support strategic decision-making, and lead continuous improvement initiatives within a growing business.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and professional development.
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust controls and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Manage month-end and year-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow management, treasury activities and fixed asset accounting.
Produce management accounts, financial reports, KPI analysis, cash flow forecasts and business performance insights for senior stakeholders.
Lead the budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes, providing variance analysis and recommendations to improve performance.
Coordinate external audits, statutory reporting requirements and wider compliance obligations, maintaining strong governance across the business.
Drive finance system enhancements, process improvements and automation initiatives to improve efficiency, reporting quality and financial visibility.
Partner with operational and senior stakeholders across the organisation to support decision-making, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to business growth and transformation.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Previous experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role.
Strong financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
Proven people management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Commercially minded with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Strong Excel and finance systems experience.
