How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Software Engineer
    Permanent | New Malden | C#.Net | Desktop Applications

    The role:
    We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the development and enhancement of complex software applications used within a highly regulated engineering environment.
    In this role, you will design, develop and maintain software solutions, working closely with Systems Engineers, Test Engineers and Project Teams to deliver high-quality products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and contributing to innovative, real-world solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    * Develop and maintain software applications using C# and .NET technologies.

    * Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements through to release.

    * Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver new functionality and product enhancements.

    * Troubleshoot and resolve software defects identified during development and testing.

    * Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality improvements.

    * Produce technical documentation to support development and support activities.

    * Support Agile delivery practices, including sprint planning and reviews.

    * Contribute to technical design discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Skills & Experience:

    * Commercial experience developing applications using C# and .NET.

    * Experience developing desktop applications using Windows Forms.

    * Understanding of TCP/IP and UDP networking protocols.

    * Experience working within structured software development environments.

    * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

    * Experience with source control and software configuration management.

    * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    * Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

    Desirable skills:

    Experience with C++ or Java.
    Experience developing software for complex integrated systems.
    Understanding of multithreaded applications.
    Experience within aerospace, defence, transport, industrial automation or other regulated industries.
    Familiarity with automated testing practices.

    Success in this role means consistently delivering robust, maintainable software solutions that meet both customer and business requirements. You will contribute positively to sprint objectives and project milestones, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales. A strong focus on software quality, documentation and continuous improvement will be key, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support the successful delivery of innovative technology solutions.
