How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A specialist engineering and advanced manufacturing business is looking for an experienced EHS Lead to take ownership of Environmental, Health & Safety across its industrial manufacturing operation in Coventry.

This is a high-risk, technically demanding manufacturing environment, operating 365 days a year, with around 90 people based on site. The operation involves complex industrial processes and challenging working conditions, including working at height and specialist access into furnaces.

This is a standalone position, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, visible and influential rather than operating purely from an office. You will have genuine ownership of the site's EHS agenda and will be responsible for embedding a proactive safety culture across the operation.

    Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm

    Coventry

    EHS Lead
    Key Responsibilities

Own and lead EHS across the site, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, company standards and relevant management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Embed a strong safety culture across the operation, working closely with the shop floor, supporting Safety Champions and delivering workshops, training and engagement initiatives.
Lead the identification and management of risk, including risk assessments, process safety, HAZID, HAZOP, incident investigations and the implementation of effective corrective actions.
Provide practical EHS guidance across the business, translating legislation and regulatory requirements into clear, workable processes, procedures and safe systems of work.
Manage EHS requirements around contractors, projects and site development, including contractor controls, CDM requirements and ensuring EHS is embedded into the new structure being developed on site.
Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance, monitoring incidents, near misses, audits and compliance while working with managers and employees to continually raise safety standards

    EHS Lead
Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating in a high-risk engineering or manufacturing environment and who can combine strong technical EHS knowledge with an engaging, practical approach.
You will need to be someone who is comfortable getting onto the shop floor, talking to operators, challenging unsafe practices and working collaboratively to find solutions.
    You will ideally have:

NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma, or an equivalent recognised EHS qualification.
Environmental knowledge/qualification, ideally IEMA or equivalent.
Strong experience within an engineering, manufacturing or similarly high-risk industrial environment.
Proven experience implementing and improving EHS management systems.
Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
Practical experience with process safety, HAZID and HAZOP.
Experience with risk assessment, incident investigation, near-miss management and change management.
Experience managing contractors and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
CDM experience would be highly desirable, particularly given the development work taking place on site.
Experience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
The ability to take legislation and turn it into practical, understandable processes for the workforce.
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage with everyone from operators through to senior management.
A hands-on, approachable and visible style.
The ability to work independently and take ownership of an EHS agenda with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

    EHS Lead
    Company Benefits

Pension Scheme up to 10% company contribution
    Employee Health & Wellbeing Programme
    Employee Discounts
Career development within a high-performing aerospace environment
    Bonus

    Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of EHS within a technically advanced manufacturing environment where safety is fundamental to the operation.

The successful candidate will become a key figure on site — building relationships, influencing behaviours and putting the right systems and controls in place to ensure the operation remains safe, compliant and continuously improving.

If you are an experienced EHS professional who enjoys being hands-on, working directly with the shop floor and making a tangible difference within a high-risk manufacturing environment, this could be an excellent opportunity.
