How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Highways / Construction Operative – HGV Class 2

    Location: Weston-Super-Mare
    Salary: £27500 - £34700 (depending on experience)
    Job Type: Full-time, Temp to perm

    We are currently looking for an experienced Highways / Construction Operative with an HGV Class 2 licence to join our busy Highways Division based in Sandford.

    Working as part of a 2–3 person team, you will carry out a range of highways maintenance and construction works across the local area.

    Key Responsibilities

    Kerbing and general highways works

    Hot and cold lay patching

    Erecting and dismantling fencing

    Erecting, removing and maintaining road signage

    General highways maintenance and construction duties

    Driving and operating HGV Class 2 vehicles as required

    Working safely and effectively as part of a small team

    Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety

    Participating in the Winter Maintenance On-Call Team during the winter season

    Requirements

    Full HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence – essential

    NRSWA qualification – essential

    Previous experience in highways, construction or road maintenance

    Good understanding of health and safety requirements

    Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team

    Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

    Flexible approach to working hours, particularly during the winter season
