How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Location: Glasgow (with operational travel across Scotland and the wider UK)

Full-time, Permanent | Candidates must hold full right to work in the UK

Are you an experienced, technically astute Utility Survey Professional looking to take genuine ownership of high-value projects, team leadership, and commercial delivery within an industry-leading consultancy?

A Leading Specialist is expanding its Scottish operations and seeking a highly skilled Project Manager – Utility Surveys to lead and develop their established team in Glasgow. This is a pivotal management appointment offering the scope to direct utility survey schemes from inception to completion, influence technical workflows, and mentor the next generation of surveyors across a diverse infrastructure portfolio.

    The Opportunity:

You will play a vital role in leading multidisciplinary utility mapping commissions, ensuring all operations align strictly with industry standards and commercial targets. Your day-to-day remit involves:

Managing multiple utility survey projects concurrently from instruction, resourcing, and mobilisation through to final sign-off and delivery.

Briefing, deploying, and mentoring Utility Surveyors and Trainees while conducting site audits to uphold rigorous SHEQ standards.

Providing authoritative technical guidance across PAS 128 specifications, robustly reviewing deliverables to guarantee technical precision.

Acting as the primary operational contact for key clients, managing variations, monitoring project budgets, and driving commercial margin performance.

    Technical Essentials:

To be successful, you must demonstrate high-level technical proficiency and proven operational leadership:

Mandatory: Substantial utility mapping background (~5+ years' specialist experience), with demonstrated supervisory or project management capability. Professional membership of CICES or RICS is advantageous.

Compliance/Systems: In-depth technical mastery of PAS 128 standards, alongside practical expertise in Electromagnetic Locators (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems.

Experience: Proven track record delivering end-to-end subsurface utility projects, controlling commercial performance, and reviewing/signing off complex CAD/survey data.

Mobility: Full UK Driving Licence with willingness to travel to project sites as operational demands dictate.

    The Package:

Competitive base salary circa £50,000 per annum.

Structured professional development with funded pathways toward RICS/CICES chartership.

Company pension scheme and comprehensive corporate benefits.

Genuine autonomy to shape departmental workflows, technology adoption, and team growth.
