How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Workers to join a vibrant mainstream primary school based in the Chorley area. This inclusive setting prides itself on fostering an accessible, supportive, and stimulating environment where pupils aged 4-11 with a range of additional needs-including Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and moderate learning difficulties successfully integrated into mainstream classrooms while receiving the targeted interventions they need to thrive.

The school champion a holistic, person-centred approach, ensuring every child is supported to access the national curriculum, build meaningful social connections, and develop independence within a busy school community.

Because many pupils experience sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or communication barriers, you will help deliver tailored intervention strategies, emotional regulation support, and adapted learning activities both within the classroom and during small-group withdrawal sessions.

Your goal is to provide a nurturing, reassuring presence that bridges the gap between mainstream classroom expectations and individual pupil needs, ensuring students feel secure, valued, and empowered throughout their school day.

    Key Responsibilities

1:1 and Small Group Support: Assist pupils with autism and additional needs during core academic lessons, creative tasks, and social transition periods.
Inclusion & Differentiation: Adapt learning materials and classroom environments under teacher guidance to ensure accessibility for pupils with neurodiversity or learning difficulties.
Communication & Engagement: Utilise alternative communication methods (such as PECS, visual timetables, or social stories) to support students with non-verbal or limited communication skills and ease transitions.
Emotional Regulation & Well being: Support the delivery of sensory circuits, safe spaces, and emotional regulation strategies to help students manage anxiety and sensory overload.
Safeguarding: Maintain a vigilant approach to safeguarding and pupil welfare in line with school policies and statutory guidelines.Candidate Requirements

Experience: Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, specifically Autism (ASC), ADHD, or learning difficulties within an educational or care setting (experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker is ideal).
Attributes: High levels of empathy, patience, resilience, and a genuinely positive, inclusive mindset.
Skills: A practical, collaborative approach with a strong understanding of how to foster inclusion and independence in a mainstream environment.
Vetting: Must hold a valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one immediately). How to Apply

If you are passionate about inclusive education and want to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with SEN in a mainstream primary setting in Chorley, apply ASAP by submitting your CV or contacting (url removed) or calling (phone number removed) to find out more
