How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Payroll and HR professional looking for a role where you can take ownership of payroll while playing a key part in the wider employee lifecycle?
We are recruiting on behalf of a well established organisation for a Payroll HR Officer to join its HR team at its site in Telford. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong UK payroll experience who enjoys working across both payroll and HR administration in a busy operational environment.

    The Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will take responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, while providing comprehensive HR administration across the employee lifecycle.

You will work closely with HR, Finance, managers and site teams, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, records are maintained accurately, and payroll and HR processes remain compliant with UK legislation.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end UK payroll process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Process variable pay including overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, deductions and timesheet data.
Manage starters, leavers and changes to pay, hours and contractual arrangements.
Calculate and administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, ShPP and SAP.
Ensure holiday pay and final payments are calculated accurately.
Manage PAYE, National Insurance, student loans and attachment of earnings.
Administer workplace pensions, including auto-enrolment, contributions, opt-outs and re-enrolment.
Complete payroll reconciliations and prepare reports for Finance.
Support year-end processes including P60s and P11D reporting.
Act as a key point of contact for employee payroll queries.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records across HR and payroll systems.
Prepare contracts, variation letters and other HR documentation.
Support recruitment, onboarding, pre-employment and right-to-work checks.
Monitor absence and holiday records and provide relevant reports.
Support the HR Manager with employee relations administration.
Assist with benefits administration and the annual pay review process.
Produce HR and payroll reports including headcount, absence and turnover data.
Support internal and external audits and contribute to improving HR and payroll processes.
Ensure all payroll and HR activity complies with relevant UK legislation and UK GDPR.
    About You

We're looking for someone who has proven experience running an end-to-end UK payroll and is confident working with statutory payments, RTI, PAYE, National Insurance and workplace pensions.

    You'll ideally have:

Strong UK payroll experience, including statutory payments and RTI submissions.
Good knowledge of PAYE, NI, pension auto-enrolment and holiday pay.
Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical ability.
Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel, including functions such as lookups and pivot tables.
The ability to work accurately to strict deadlines.
A professional and approachable manner when dealing with employee queries.
The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience within a manufacturing, food production or shift based environment would be advantageous, as would previous experience in a combined payroll and HR role.

A CIPP payroll qualification or CIPD Level 3 qualification would also be desirable, although relevant experience will be considered.

    What’s on Offer?

    £37,000 – £47,550 salary, dependent on experience.
    Permanent, full-time position.

Monday to Friday working hours, fully onsite.

Opportunity to take ownership of both payroll and HR administration.
A varied role within an established organisation.
The opportunity to contribute to process improvements and support a growing HR function.
