Long-Term | Full-Time | Secondary Alternative Provision
A specialist secondary alternative provision in Knutsford is looking for a Pastoral Behaviour Mentor to join their team on a long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right person.
The provision supports secondary-aged pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and reconnect with education.
As a Pastoral Behaviour Mentor, you'll play an important role in helping pupils build positive relationships, develop emotional regulation and rediscover their confidence in themselves and their ability to learn.
The Role
You'll provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support, working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to create a calm, consistent and positive learning environment.
You'll support pupils to:
Build positive relationships with adults and peers
Develop confidence, resilience and self-belief
Re-engage with lessons and learning
Develop emotional regulation and self-awareness
Understand and manage their emotions
Develop positive attitudes towards education
Recognise their strengths, interests and talents
Celebrate achievements and recognise progress
Develop the confidence and skills needed for their future
Education at the Heart of the Role
This role is about more than behaviour support. You'll help young people understand the barriers affecting their education and develop positive strategies to manage challenges, regulate their emotions and engage more successfully with learning.
Working alongside teachers, you'll encourage pupils to reconnect with education, develop curiosity and recognise their own strengths and potential.
The aim is to create an environment where pupils feel safe, understood and supported, giving them the confidence to learn, participate and make progress.
Your Experience

Teaching Assistant or SEN roles
