How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Days Only

Syston, Leicestershire | Permanent | £50,170.56 plus a wide range of company benefits.
    3 on 3 off | 12-hour day shifts – no nights

Are you a Maintenance Engineer looking for a varied role without working nights?

Join an established engineering team on a 3 on 3 off, days-only shift pattern, using your electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills to solve problems and keep production running efficiently.

Wagstaff Recruitment & Careers Coaching is recruiting on behalf of a family-run food manufacturer with continued investment from its owners and a friendly, welcoming culture.

You’ll join a team of four, including an Engineering Team Leader, where people share knowledge, support production and help each other get the job done.

    Why join?

This is a forward-thinking business that invests in its people, equipment and ways of working. The site has implemented Redzone to support communication, record maintenance activity and help teams improve performance.

You’ll have a varied workload, access to in-house and external training, and opportunities to develop and progress

    The role

Working across food processing equipment, automated packing lines and site services, you will:

Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults.
Respond to breakdowns, working closely with production to minimise downtime.
Carry out planned maintenance to prevent recurring problems.
Identify and implement improvements to equipment reliability and efficiency.
Give production colleagues clear, practical advice and technical support.
Record maintenance activity using Redzone and help maintain accurate spare-parts records.
Work safely and maintain high engineering and housekeeping standards.
    What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced maintenance engineer with a recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification and confident electrical fault-finding skills.

Your background could be fully multi-skilled, electrically biased with mechanical skills, or mechanically biased with electrical skills. What matters is your ability to diagnose electrical faults and contribute across a varied mechanical and electrical workload.

Food manufacturing experience is welcome but not essential. Experience maintaining equipment in another manufacturing environment is relevant. PLC knowledge would be useful, although it is not essential.

Just as important is your approach: helpful, practical and willing to work with colleagues. We’re looking for someone with an engineering mindset who investigates problems, finds solutions and helps the team maintain high production efficiencies.

    Benefits and wellbeing

    23 days’ holiday.
Discretionary annual profit-related company bonus and an annual pay rise.
Company pension: 2% employer contribution on joining, rising to 5% after two years.
Bupa private medical insurance and cash plan: available to monthly paid employees, or weekly paid employees after two years’ service, with access to physical and mental health support and wellbeing resources. Family cover can be added at your own cost; benefit-in-kind tax applies.
Employee discounts platform: digital vouchers, over 1,400 cashback offers and exclusive discounts, with potential savings of up to £600 per year.
Free Company Shop membership: access to discounted groceries and household products while helping reduce waste.
    Cycle to Work scheme.
GroceryAid support: free financial, emotional and practical support through the industry charity.
