How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Engineer – Civils

    Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
    Job Type: Permanent

    The Role

    We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join a busy civils construction team. The role will involve setting out, technical coordination, quality control and supporting the delivery of civil engineering works, while working closely with site management, subcontractors and the design team.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Set out civil engineering works accurately in accordance with drawings and specifications.

    * Ensure site teams and subcontractors deliver works to the required standards.

    * Complete quality checks and inspection records for concrete, drainage, paving, tarmac and associated civils works.

    * Manage subcontractors and agree weekly measures, dayworks and additional works.

    * Order materials including kerbs, drainage, channels and reinforcement steel, coordinating deliveries with the programme.

    * Liaise with site management regarding labour, plant and resource requirements.

    * Maintain accurate drawing registers and ensure current drawings are available on site.

    * Assist with RAMS, technical queries, progress reports and site documentation.

    Qualifications & Experience

    * Relevant engineering or construction qualification, preferably Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

    * Previous experience within the construction or civil engineering industry.

    * Experience with setting out and site engineering duties.

    * Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.

    * Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs.

    * Strong technical, numerical and problem-solving skills.

    * Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills.

    * IT literate with good document control abilities.

    * Valid CSCS Card.

    * SSSTS desirable.

    * Knowledge of civils, infrastructure, drainage, concrete, highways or groundworks would be advantageous.

    * Experience using surveying and setting-out equipment would be beneficial.

    * Graduate candidates with an accredited engineering degree will be considered.

    * Environmental awareness.

    * Asbestos awareness.

    * Fire safety.

    * Manual handling.

    * Face-fit requirements.
