How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Days Monday- Friday (1pm finish Friday)

We are working with an established engineering manufacturer on the outskirts of Coventry area that is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team.

This is a genuinely hands-on design role requiring strong CAD/ Design capability. The successful candidate will spend a significant proportion of their time producing detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation, while supporting both existing products and new product development.

The position would suit an engineer who enjoys being closely involved in the detailed CAD and design work.

    Mechanical Design Engineer- The Role

Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical components, products and assemblies from initial concept through to manufacture.

A key part of the role will involve working with an established portfolio of engineering drawings and product information, including reviewing and modernising legacy designs and developing accurate 3D CAD models and manufacturing documentation.

You will also contribute to bespoke customer requirements, existing product improvements and new product development.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Producing detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks (All CAD experience considered)

    * Reviewing, updating and modernising existing and legacy engineering drawings

    * Converting existing designs and technical information into accurate 3D CAD models

    * Designing mechanical components, products and assemblies

    * Supporting specialist, bespoke and customer-specific design projects

    * Taking designs from initial concept and specification through to detailed design and manufacture

    * Producing and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials

    * Creating detailed manufacturing drawings including dimensions, tolerances and engineering specifications

    * Selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing methods

    * Supporting engineering changes and modifications to existing products

    * Identifying opportunities to improve existing designs and products

    Mechanical Design Engineer- About You

We are looking for a genuinely hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer who is highly competent with CAD and comfortable taking ownership of detailed design work.

    You will ideally have:

    * Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, CAD Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, Development Engineer or similar

    * Strong practical experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software

    * Excellent 3D modelling and 2D engineering drawing skills

    * Experience producing detailed engineering drawings for manufacture

    * Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies

    * A good understanding of tolerances, fits and engineering drawing standards

    * Knowledge of materials, machining and manufacturing processes

    * The ability to interpret existing engineering drawings and technical information

    Mechanical Design Engineer Desirable Experience

Experience within the automotive sector or a related mechanical engineering environment would be particularly advantageous.

    Relevant backgrounds could include:

    * Rotating products or mechanical equipment

    * Complex mechanical assemblies

    * Mechanically driven products and systems

    * Precision engineered or manufactured components

    * Product development within a manufacturing environment

Experience designing mechanical products, components or systems for automation, autonomous systems or advanced mobility applications would also be highly advantageous.

The business sees significant future opportunity within these developing markets and has also begun exploring applications within the electric vehicle sector, so previous exposure to EV-related products or technologies would be beneficial.

Candidates from other relevant mechanical engineering backgrounds will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong hands-on CAD and mechanical design capability.
