How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Put your maintenance skills to good use in a permanent Monday to Friday role, with varied work and the satisfaction of a job well done.

    School Facilities and Maintenance Technician

Claires Court School | Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 6AW
Permanent, full time | 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
52 weeks per year | Start November 2026

Claires Court is looking for an experienced maintenance professional to join its Estates Team. You’ll tackle repairs, solve practical problems and keep our buildings, facilities and grounds safe, welcoming and ready for the school day.

This is a hands on role where you can take ownership of your work, see the results and become a valued member of a supportive team.

What makes this role worth a look?

Permanent, year round employment: a 52 week role, with work continuing during school holidays.
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday: occasional emergency callouts compensated through overtime or time off in lieu.
Variety that puts your skills to use: repairs, fault finding, planned maintenance and improvements across our school sites.
Uniform and equipment provided: alongside free parking at each school site.
A good pension scheme: plus death in service cover and personal accident insurance.
Meals and refreshments during the school day: when the kitchen is operating.
Training and professional development: opportunities to build on your practical experience.
Cycle to work scheme and a school fee concession, subject to qualifying conditions.
Supportive colleagues and a positive working environment where your contribution matters.
    Your day to day work

From fixing a faulty lock to preparing a space for a school event, you’ll help keep a busy school running smoothly. You’ll prioritise maintenance requests, spot issues early and follow jobs through to completion.

    Your responsibilities will include:

General repairs to doors, windows, locks, flooring and furniture, plus painting, decorating and basic carpentry.
Minor plumbing and electrical work within your competence, including fault finding and sourcing suitable parts.
Keeping outdoor areas safe and tidy, clearing drains and gutters, and supporting seasonal grounds work.
Setting up furniture and equipment for examinations, assemblies, parents’ evenings and sporting events.
Handling deliveries and driving company vehicles to collect materials or move equipment between local school sites.
Supporting swimming pool maintenance, working with contractors and completing routine safety checks.
Opening and securing buildings, supporting occasional emergency callouts and following health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
    What you’ll bring

Experience in property maintenance, caretaking or a similar practical role is essential. You’ll be confident completing a range of minor repairs to a good standard and know when a job needs specialist support.

You’ll be reliable, organised and approachable, with a practical approach to solving problems. You should be comfortable working independently, managing changing priorities and helping colleagues when needed.

An electrical or plumbing qualification would be an advantage, but is not essential. Applications from qualified electricians and plumbers are particularly welcome.

A role where your work makes a difference

Claires Court is an all through school helping girls and boys develop into happy, confident young people. Your work will help provide the safe, well maintained surroundings that pupils and staff depend on every day.

If you take pride in doing a job properly and want to put your maintenance experience to good use, apply with your CV and the recruitment team will be in touch.

Claires Court is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to complete all appropriate safeguarding and pre employment checks
