How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role description:
    We are looking for an experienced Risk Manager, to join our Nuclear Consultancy business and work on some of the UK's largest infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to work with some exciting clients from The Nuclear, Defence and other challenges Industries Working closely with project and programme teams to implement effective risk management processes, ensuring full integration with project and programme management and control disciplines.
    Provide support to the Service Capability Leader for Risk Management in development of service capability supporting with risk analyses, quality assurance and drafting reports whilst delivering scope of work in line with budgetary, compliance, regulatory and planning controls.
    As part of our Programme and Project Management team, you'll help deliver some of the biggest, most iconic projects imaginable, with some of the best talent around. With your energy, agility and a keen eye for detail, you'll deliver transformational outcomes for multiple clients.
    Role Purpose:
    Lead the development and implementation of a strategic risk management framework for the STEP Fusion Programme, ensuring effective identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting of risks across one of the UKs most complex and innovative energy infrastructure programmes. Act as the principal adviser to senior leadership on programme risk exposure and support informed decision-making across technical, commercial, regulatory, and delivery activities.
    Key Responsibilities:
    - Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project and programme risk and opportunity management frameworks, ensuring compliance with governance, assurance, and organisational requirements.
    - Lead and facilitate risk and opportunity identification, assessment, analysis, mitigation, and monitoring activities across technical, commercial, schedule, regulatory, safety, environmental, stakeholder, and delivery risk areas.
    - Manage project and programme risk registers, ensuring risks, opportunities, controls, actions, and mitigation plans are effectively captured, maintained, and reported throughout the project lifecycle.
    - Deliver qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, including cost, schedule, and integrated Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), to support forecasting, contingency management, and evidence-based decision-making.
    - Support the management of enterprise risks and opportunities, including strategic, organisational, reputational, stakeholder, governance, and external risks that may impact programme objectives and delivery outcomes.
    - Integrate risk management with programme controls and wider business functions, including cost, schedule, change, commercial, Quality, Safety, Health, Environment, Regulatory and Assurance (QSHERA), to provide a coordinated approach to managing uncertainty and performance.
    - Produce and present risk reporting, dashboards, heat maps, key risk indicators, and management information that support programme governance, assurance activities, audits, business case development, and senior stakeholder decision-making.
    - Build effective relationships with clients, regulators, contractors, supply chain partners, and multidisciplinary teams, providing expert risk management support and facilitating collaborative risk and opportunity management activities.
    - Promote a positive risk and opportunity culture through coaching, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement, supporting the consistent application of risk management principles, processes, and best practice.
    - Contribute to the continuous improvement and digital transformation of risk management through the development of data analytics, dashboarding, reporting tools, automation, and risk intelligence capabilities that enhance programme insight and performance.
    Qualifications & Experience:

    client is seeking expert Risk Management professionals with significant expertise in risk management and recognised expertise in project and programme management, with the following required and desirable criteria.

    Required
    - A relevant professional qualification (or working towards) such as APM Risk Certificate or IRM Certificate
    - Experience in the application of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) techniques and tools, for example: @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis (previously Pertmaster), Safran including the analysis of complex logic-linked cost-loaded schedules
    - Knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management tools, for example, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Predict!, Xactium and CLEW
    - Understanding of the relationship between Risk Management and controls/management functions including project/programme management, change control, planning, scheduling, cost and commercial management and reporting.
    - Collaborative working and consulting style approach to clients
    - A logical approach and ability to think through complex issues to co-ordinate multi-faceted aspects of projects
    - Experience delivering Risk Management at Programme or Strategic levels.

    Desirable
    - 5+ years Risk Management experience in the Nuclear or Defence industries, with strong communication and line management skills.
    - Ideally would hold UKSV Security Clearance (or have the eligibility to gain) to support these highly challenging, interesting, and rewarding programmes.
    - Working Awareness of Cost, Commercial, Estimating, Planning, Reporting & Quality disciplines in a Project / Programme lifecycle.
    - Experience in ensuring timescales / deadlines are realistic and met, with attention to detail and quality.
    - Previously worked as a Risk Manager within the Nuclear or Defence industry.
    - Ability to deputise for Senior Risk Managers / Directors.
    - Commitment to site working / living, if required.
    - Experience delivering projects within the Nuclear / Defence sector, if not then within another regulated environment (i.e. water, rail, energy etc.) would be acceptable
