How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Managing Quantity Surveyor

Major Transmission & Overhead Line Infrastructure Projects | Scotland

    £750/day PAYE | Inside IR35 Long-Term Contract | Until June 2027

We are recruiting for two Managing Quantity Surveyors to support the delivery of major electricity transmission infrastructure projects across Scotland. These roles sit within a leading UK utility and infrastructure contractor delivering critical upgrades to the high-voltage transmission network.

Working on large-scale Overhead Line (OHL) and power infrastructure schemes, you will play a key role in ensuring robust commercial management throughout project delivery, helping facilitate network reinforcement, renewable energy integration, and future energy security.

    The Role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of major transmission projects from delivery through to final account, working closely with project, operational and commercial teams.

    Key responsibilities will include:

Leading all commercial and contractual activities across assigned projects.
Managing cost reporting, forecasting and cost/value reconciliation.
Administering NEC contracts, including compensation events and change management.
Managing project risks, opportunities and commercial governance.
Preparing applications for payment, valuations, variations and final accounts.
    Procuring and managing subcontract packages.
Reviewing and approving subcontractor applications and payments.
Producing accurate monthly commercial reports and forecasts.
Supporting operational teams to maximise project profitability.
Managing stakeholder relationships across project and client teams.
Ensuring compliance with contractual and company commercial procedures.

    Essential Experience

Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
    Strong NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract administration experience.
Experience working within utilities, power, transmission, civil engineering or major infrastructure sectors.
Strong understanding of change control, compensation events and final accounts.
Commercial leadership experience on complex infrastructure projects.
Excellent forecasting, reporting and financial management skills.
Strong stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.

    Highly Desirable

    Electricity transmission or distribution experience.
    Overhead Line (OHL) project experience.
Experience on high-voltage power infrastructure projects.
Previous involvement with transmission network reinforcement schemes.
    Utilities framework experience.
Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

    Package

    £750 per day PAYE
    Inside IR35
    45 hours per week
Long-term programme extending to June 2027
    Scotland-based projects
    Immediate interview availability

    Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a major energy infrastructure programme delivering some of the UK's most important network upgrades. With significant investment continuing across the transmission sector to support renewable generation and future electricity demand, these projects offer long-term stability, high-profile delivery experience and exposure to complex NEC commercial management.

If you are an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor with a background in utilities, transmission, power or major infrastructure projects, we'd be keen to speak with you.
